Services

Shelter
A dormitory style group sleeping arrangement for 55 homeless men with 24 hour supervision. This type of structure is important for residents who have been homeless and are likely to be struggling with substance abuse, mental illness or other dysfunctional behavioral patterns. Laundry facilities are available to all residents. The shelter is open 24 hours a day year round. The average length of stay is 120 days.

Meals
Three meals a day are provided for each resident. Additionally, one meal is served each day to approximately 100 community residents who are hungry but are not residents of Hope House.

The community meal is served separately from the meals available to Hope House residents. All meals are prepared by the staff of Hope House. Manpower and supplies for the community meal program is funded and managed separately from the Hope House program.

Medical Exams
Each resident is referred for a medical exam which includes drug and alcohol abuse testing, basic screening and a general physical.

Case Work, Counseling and Education
Hope House provides case management and related support services to assist residents in stabilizing their lives and making positive life choices. Case management includes outreach, client assessment, planning, referrals, advocacy and counseling assistance geared toward helping individual residents establish a supportive network of providers, family and others who desire to help them overcome the circumstances and conditions which led to his homelessness. Case Managers work with each resident to develop a service plan designed to meet the individual's needs and to gain the resident's agreement on the criteria needed to assess the individual's progress toward completion of his service plan.

Residents who receive entitlement benefits or secure temporary employment while residing at Hope House are required to participate in a mandatory savings program.

Adult Literacy, Theology and Spiritual Guidance
Hope Home is dedicated to helping residents address these issues in order to lay the foundation for an eventual move into permanent housing. To accomplish this objective, the program components at Hope House go beyond traditional case management services to include adult literacy training where appropriate, group therapy, individual spiritual guidance and counseling on a voluntary basis, life style enrichment classes, and assigned dormitory responsibilities to enhance the resident's sense of worth and self esteem.

Vocational Training
Hope House residents also are provided with opportunities to engage in vocational training activities through referral to the Employment Project, an agency which provides job readiness assessments and referrals for homeless individuals,
